From the very beginning, Caleb Troy has been inspired from the second he picked up his very first DSLR camera at a youth group hayride. Bold, Fearless, and Cutting Edge are just a few descriptive words of how to describe Caleb Troy's bright and beautiful work. Combining a fantastic photographic eye and photoshop skills he was able to create the line of work we now carry at Kess Inhouse! We feel fortunate to carry his cutting edge designs on our shower curtains, pillows, cutting boards, and all of our growing home decor product line. Caleb was recently featured on lonny.com for fashion week!
Caleb Troy was able to sit down and have a brief Q&A with us about himself and what inspires his fantastic artwork. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
KIH: What is your first memory as an artist?
Caleb: When I got my hands on a dslr camera for the first time at a youth group hayride. One of the adults had the camera and let me take pictures with it, and I was hooked.
KIH: What is your creative process?
Caleb: My creative process is all over the place. I like to use photography as my base, especially when making abstracts and patterns. Most of my images are mixed media of photography and photoshop shapes and effects. When creating on the computer I always listen to music. Mumford and Sons, Imagine Dragons, The Mowglis and Zedd are usually on my playlist.
KIH: What was your first medium?
KIH: What is your favorite medium?
Caleb: Mixed Media
KIH: What common threads do you find show up in your work?
Caleb: I think my work has varying styles and themes, but one thing that is pretty constant is bright and bold colors. Color can show so many emotions, and I love wacky and unexpected color combinations.
KIH: Where do you do most of your work?
Caleb: I would say I spend most of my time out shooting with my camera, but most of creative process happens on the computer in photoshop where I can create my mixed media pieces.
